Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong honoured among world’s most influential scientists 2025

Elsevier publisher and the research team at Stanford University (the US), have released the 2025 ranking of the world’s most influential scientists.

The list includes Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong, Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Politics Region II - Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

The ranking is compiled from citation data in Scopus, a scientific database that ensures transparency, objectivity, and continuous updates, accurately reflecting the stature and influence of global research activities.

The 2025 list of the world’s most influential scientists recognises more than 236,310 researchers in the top 2% out of nearly 12 million scientists active by the end of 2024.

Among them, Viet Nam has 205 scientists, an increase of 25.8% compared to 2024 (163 scientists), marking the highest figure ever recorded for Viet Nam.

The list is published in two categories: the first acknowledges career-long scientific influence, while the second reflects the level of impact in the most recent year (2024).

In this year’s list, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong ranks among the top five most influential Vietnamese researchers worldwide in 2025 in the field of social sciences, and is also among the 64 scientists recognised in the career-long influence category.

During his teaching and research career, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong has made significant contributions to science in many fields, especially three main research directions: transport economics, logistics, and tourism economics towards sustainable development.

In the coming time, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong will continue to promote research in science, technology, and sustainable development, serving teaching and contributing to the advancement of Viet Nam’s academic community.
