The information was announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society at a meeting held on October 7 to review the Society’s campaign on taking care of needy people during the fourth outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Society arranged 57 buses and five trucks to carry babies and pregnant to their hometowns, transport meals to hospitals, bring medical supplies to frontline forces, and deliver food to blockaded areas.
The society also provided financial support for cremation and coffins for needy households with members who died of COVID-19, and presented about 28,500 Mid-autumn gifts to disadvantaged children and 2,000 gifts to mobile lottery ticket sellers worth a total of VND1 billion.
In addition, about 268 tonnes of agricultural products, 146 tonnes of rice and thousands of units of blood were mobilised to help people in need.
The Society also provided 4,415 oxygen tanks to COVID-19 infected people, two high-flow oxygen ventilators, one negative pressure air purifier room, two COVID-19 screening rooms, 1,420 carton beds, 10,620 medical protective suits, 12,000 N95 masks, 12,000 pairs of medical gloves, 402,500 medical masks, and 3,780 disinfectant bottles for hospitals and isolation areas, among others.
*The Welfare Centre of Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City, in coordination with sponsors held the “Homeland rice” programme on October 7 to present 200 gifts to needy people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Xuan Thoi Dong Commune.
Since the launch of the programme on October 3, about 1,700 gift bags of necessities have been granted to needy people.
