The Deputy PM made the request while chairing a national conference to review performance in the first six months of 2019 and deploy tasks for the remaining months of the year regarding the Government’s steering committee for crime fighting and the national steering committee for prevention and control of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
Deputy Minister of Public Security Sen. Lt. Gen. Le Quy Vuong reported that more than 21,000 social order violation cases were recorded in the first six months of 2019.
Meanwhile, over 10,500 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and fake commodities were detected, total fines amounted to more than VND1 trillion (US$43 million), he added.
Deputy Minister Vuong stated that the police force has also coordinated with relevant forces to prevent, investigate and deal with crimes effectively while dealing with complex criminal and social order problems in a timely manner.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy PM Binh urged competent agencies to conduct more crime sweeps, ensuring social order and safety, as well as to improve the quality of investigation and to promptly handle serious cases of public concern.
Officials and public employees who lack sense of responsibility or show signs of committing violations must be strictly handled so as to clean up agencies’ apparatuses, he stressed.
