At the same time, a large volume of rice has been mobilised to support people in provinces facing severe hardship, with requirements for urgent implementation, strict compliance with regulations, and completion of delivery before Tet.
Joy of welcoming Tet
Recently, Lang Son Province was allocated 534 tonnes of national reserve rice by the Party Central Committee to support local people during the Lunar New Year and the early-2026 lean season. To date, more than 190 tonnes have been delivered to nearly 12,784 people across the province. For the lean season this year, more than 4,118 households will receive the remaining 342.27 tonnes of rice.
Hua Van Dau, from Doan Ket Hamlet, Hong Phong Commune, said: “I am very moved by the state’s rice support. During this lean season, I feel less worried. I will try to borrow capital to buy more livestock to make a living.”
Sharing the joy with local residents, Hoang Thanh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hong Phong Commune, affirmed that this support is a great source of spiritual encouragement. The locality will allocate support resources to the right beneficiaries, ensuring openness and transparency so that people can have greater confidence to improve their lives.
It is known that the delivery of rice support for the 2026 Lunar New Year in Lang Son will be completed before February 10; support for the early-2026 lean season will be completed before March 15.
In Tuyen Quang Province, from January 25 to 30, Regional State Reserve Sub-department No. 4 released more than 729 tonnes of rice from the national reserve to support local people in celebrating the Lunar New Year. The rice was distributed to 119 communes and wards, supporting 12,956 households with more than 48,000 people.
The processes of warehouse release, transportation, and handover were carried out in strict accordance with regulations, ensuring quantity and quality, and meeting the requirement of providing support before Tet.
According to leaders of Regional State Reserve Sub-department No. 4, thanks to the Ministry of Finance’s early issuance of the decision assigning the task of releasing national reserve rice to Tuyen Quang Province, relevant units proactively developed plans and coordinated implementation.
With a high sense of responsibility and close coordination among functional agencies and 119 communes and wards, the rice distribution was completed on schedule, ensuring safety and timeliness.
In Bac Me Commune, on January 27, the commune received more than 10 tonnes of rice and immediately distributed it to 168 households. Ly Hai Vinh, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bac Me Commune, said the commune proactively reviewed and compiled a list of households eligible for rice support in accordance with regulations.
Distribution was carried out to the right beneficiaries, at the correct rate of 15 kg per person, ensuring timeliness, openness, and transparency. The implementation process was closely monitored to avoid errors, helping residents feel secure in celebrating Tet.
Duong Van Thoa, a resident of Bac Me Commune, shared: “My family is in difficult circumstances. Receiving rice support from the State during Tet makes us very happy. With rice available, we feel more at ease and are not worried about food shortages this Tet. I am grateful for the care of the Party, the State, and the local authorities.”
Completion before Lunar New Year
In the central and Central Highlands regions, immediately after the completion of the rapid Quang Trung Campaign, under which thousands of houses damaged or destroyed by floods and storms were supported for rebuilding and repair, local people continued to receive good news as the government allocated rice for Tet and for the lean season. Dak Lak Province was allocated more than 1,300 tonnes, Lam Dong more than 1,100 tonnes, and Gia Lai more than 1,400 tonnes.
Currently, the rice has been fully prepared by the State Reserve Department for delivery to localities and will reach people in the coming days.
Vu Duc Nghi, Director of Regional State Reserve Sub-department No. 12, said the sub-department has agreed with localities on the time and locations for rice delivery and receipt, ensuring compliance with regulations on rice type, quantity, and quality.
The organisation of rice delivery and receipt for localities is expected to take place from February 2 to 5, after which local authorities will directly distribute the rice to residents.
According to Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dak Lak Province, the province has issued notices to the People’s Committees of communes and wards regarding the schedule for receiving rice support for residents during the Lunar New Year.
The People’s Committees of communes and wards are responsible for promptly receiving the rice, ensuring timeliness, correct type, sufficient quantity and quality, and full compliance with documentation and procedures.
The support for residents is ensured to be timely, targeted, at the correct allocation rate, and implemented in an open and transparent manner, without duplication of beneficiaries.
In Lam Dong Province, 17,995 households with 62,776 people across 51 communes and wards have received more than 1,100 tonnes of rice for the Lunar New Year and the early-2026 lean season.
According to Tran Duc Trung, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health, the department has implemented a specific plan and requested local authorities to organise the receipt of national reserve rice for distribution to residents in accordance with the prescribed schedule, beneficiaries, and quantities.
Specifically, more than 701 tonnes of rice were allocated for Lunar New Year support to 13,921 households with 46,746 people, with delivery to be completed before February 13. The remaining amount is for lean-season support in 2026, to be completed before March 15.
Nguyen Van Thanh from Tay Hoa Commune, Dak Lak Province, said with joy: “During the floods at the end of 2025, my family’s house was damaged, property and crops were swept away, and life became extremely difficult. When we did not know how to cope, we received State support and soldiers helped repair our house. Now, hearing that we will receive rice support during the Lunar New Year, my family and other households here are very happy and grateful to the Party and the State.”
Along with delivering rice to people during the Lunar New Year, many localities are also implementing plans to support residents during the lean season in ways suited to local conditions.
According to Nguyen Khanh Yen, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Pa U Commune, Lai Chau Province, the commune currently has 1,425 households with nearly 6,000 people. After a review, 1,028 households with 4,335 people were identified as being in need and were registered for rice support during the early-2026 lean season.
Under the province’s allocation decision, Pa U Commune received more than 195 tonnes of rice, the largest amount among the province’s localities. This rice will be evenly distributed over the first three months of the year, helping residents reduce food shortages during the lean season and gradually stabilise their lives.
