At the opening ceremony, Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of the Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports, said the theme “Heritage Convergence” symbolises not only the connection between the three ancient capitals — Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh), Thang Long (Ha Noi), and Phu Xuan (Hue) — but also the gathering of cultural values from across the country, from the fertile Red River Delta to the majestic Central Highlands.
She stressed that the event reflects Ha Noi’s vision and aspiration to become a regional and global centre of creativity, where traditional heritage harmoniously blends with modern life, forming the unique identity of a city that preserves and spreads Vietnamese cultural values.
The programme honours traditional craft villages, artisans, and skilled workers who have dedicated themselves to preserving and reviving the nation’s cultural heritage in contemporary life. It also offers a hands-on experience space that inspires young people through craft demonstrations, cultural exchanges, and workshops, helping nurture a love for traditional crafts and attract a new generation of creative workers to the creative economic value chain linked with heritage.
In the ancient and solemn setting of the Temple of Literature, the festival breathes new life into tradition, connecting heritage with creativity and turning the special national relic site into a vibrant cultural, artistic, and intellectual hub of the capital.
Running from November 1–16, the Thang Long – Ha Noi Festival 2025 is a major cultural and artistic event honouring Ha Noi’s rich heritage and promoting creativity within the community.
This year’s festival features a wide range of activities such as traditional craft exhibitions and demonstrations, the art show “On the Heritage Trail” with three nights of performances, creative workshops, culinary experiences themed “Taste of Ha Noi”, academic exchanges, and art displays which link traditional values with contemporary art and the younger generation.
The festival not only highlights the enduring charm of Ha Noi’s heritage but also affirms the city’s role as a UNESCO Creative City, where tradition inspires innovation and Vietnamese wisdom continues to shine into the future.
