Yolina Lindquist and Chelsea Fernandez claimed the top titles at Miss Cosmo 2025, held in Ho Chi Minh City. The final took place on December 20, attracting 71 contestants from countries and territories around the world.
Born in 2003, Yolina Lindquist stands 1.74 metres tall and represents the US. She is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, has held leadership roles in several student organisations, and currently works in the field of community engagement.
Chelsea Fernandez, 25, is 1.67 metres tall and boasts an impressive record in beauty pageants. She was crowned Miss Globe Philippines and reached the Top 15 at The Miss Globe 2022. This year, she competed in Miss Universe Philippines and finished in the Top 6.
During their visit, the two beauties toured the Traditional House of Nhan Dan Newspaper, where they learned about the newspaper’s heroic chapters throughout its 74-year journey, watched a documentary on its development, and witnessed its strong transformation in recent years through activities that engage and attract younger audiences.
Authorised by Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh, Trinh Quoc Tuan, Chief of the Office of Nhan Dan Newspaper, together with representatives of the newspaper, held a cordial discussion and exchange with the Top 2 contestants.
Sharing about her ongoing project “Courage Over Cancer,” Miss Yolina Lindquist said the initiative focuses on raising awareness, fundraising, and providing support for cancer patients and their families. Within one year, she personally raised 28,000 USD for the Huntsman Cancer Research Fund and was honored as one of the Top 8 Sweetheart Fundraisers worldwide.
Both Yolina Lindquist and Chelsea Fernandez also shared with students attending the exchange their experiences in balancing academic pressure, work, and social activities, as well as strategies for personal development.
Speaking about her impressions of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Miss Yolina Lindquist said she was most impressed by its long-standing history and development. She highlighted the newspaper’s accuracy and credibility, describing them as the very things the world is searching for today.
Meanwhile, the First Runner-up shared that, as a graduate of broadcast journalism, she believes the media is created to shape human stories and connect people. At the same time, it fosters patriotis, especially in Viet Nam, and, most importantly, preserves the core values of the Vietnamese people.
Both the Miss and the First Runner-up were impressed by the images documenting the history and development of Nhan Dan Newspaper. Yolina noted that this was particularly meaningful, as it serves as a tribute to the past for establishing such a reliable news standard, while also acknowledging the need to grow and progress alongside the world. She praised the newsroom for achieving a remarkable balance between honoring and learning from the past and continuously evolving with global changes.
The First Runner-up added that preserving history is invaluable and expressed her hope that more people, not only in Viet Nam, would read and follow the news provided by Nhan Dan Newspaper.
