This was part of a volunteer programme entitled ‘Bringing books to children in the mountainous areas and island regions’, which is jointly organised by the Youth Unions of the Information Centre and To Quoc (Fatherland) online newspaper, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

It aims to realise the Prime Minister-approved project, on promoting reading culture in the community, while cultivating knowledge and encouraging reading habits among students in remote areas.

Under the programme, the organising board will also present 500 book titles on various topics of English learning, history, comic books, and poetry collections, to Sa Phin elementary and secondary boarding school.

In addition, five scholarships and 500 gifts will be delivered to the schoolchildren on the occasion.

Following the event in Ha Giang, the programme will then be implemented in the Bach Long Vi island district, in the northern port city of Hai Phong.
