The University of Transport Technology (UTT) held the launch ceremony for the network on October 10 in the presence of Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha.

The network, led by the University of Transport Technology, was one of 13 national networks of centres of excellence and talent development approved by the Prime Minister. This network serves as a focal initiative in the field of transport technology and smart infrastructure, marking a crucial step in Viet Nam’s efforts to modernise infrastructure and advance smart urban development.

The network brings together 28 universities, research institutes, and major enterprises, focusing on the development of seven key areas: artificial intelligence (AI), building information modelling (BIM), digital twin, smart logistics, high-speed railways, sustainable materials, and renewable energy.

As the coordinating unit, the University of Transport Technology will connect member institutions to establish an ecosystem for training, research, and technology transfer, thereby contributing to the supply of high-quality human resources for the country’s strategic economic sectors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha highly appreciated the Ministry of Education and Training’s decision to assign the University of Transport Technology as the coordinating body for the network. He emphasised that this is a strategic mission reflecting the university’s reputation, capacity, and influence within Viet Nam’s higher education system, while also contributing to the successful implementation of Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

Associate Professor, Dr Nguyen Hoang Long, Rector of the University of Transport Technology, expressed his expectation that, with its role as the hub of the network—along with its strong scientific and technological foundation and clear strategic orientation—the University of Transport Technology will become a leading centre for research, training, and innovation in smart transport technology and infrastructure, making a significant contribution to Viet Nam’s digital transformation and sustainable development efforts.
