The alliance was founded with the vision of positioning Viet Nam as a leading global hub for integrated medical tourism, where healthcare, tourism, finance, and technology are integrated within a unified ecosystem that meets international standards.

Under the guidance of the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) and the Medical Services Administration, the VMTA unites organisations operating in healthcare, tourism, technology, and finance.

This is regarded as a significant step towards building a well-integrated platform, effectively tapping into potential, and enhancing the competitiveness of Viet Nam’s medical tourism sector.

Speaking at the event, VNAT Director Nguyen Trung Khanh said the launch paves the way for the development of a new tourism product, contributing to making tourism a key economic sector and supporting the country’s double-digit growth targets.

Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Medical Services Administration, noted that Viet Nam holds considerable advantages in healthcare, and expressed confidence that the establishment of the VMTA would help unlock these strengths.

The alliance has set out a mission to standardise medical tourism services in line with international benchmarks, to build a seamless, transparent, and personalised patient journey, and to elevate Viet Nam’s position on the global medical tourism map.

At the event, Tran The Viet, a representative of the VMTA, outlined several targets for 2030, including the development of an integrated medical tourism network linking travel agencies, tour operators, accommodation providers, and especially internationally accredited medical facilities.

The alliance aims to attract an additional 1-2 million medical tourists to Viet Nam, increase the average length of stay from 7-8 nights to 15-30 nights, and generating annual revenue of 3-5 billion USD.

The launch of the VMTA not only marks the start of a new cooperative model, but also ushers in a more structured and well-directed phase of integration, aimed at building a national brand for medical tourism in Viet Nam.
