In February, international arrivals to Viet Nam reached more than 2.2 million, down 9.2% compared with the previous month but up 17.7% year on year. In total, during the first two months of 2026, Viet Nam welcomed nearly 4.7 million international visitors, an increase of 18.1% compared with the same period in 2025.

Of the total, more than 3.8 million visitors arrived by air, accounting for 81.8% of international arrivals and rising 12.8% year on year; arrivals by land reached 741,200, representing 15.8% and increasing 58.6%; while sea arrivals reached 109,500, accounting for 2.4% and rising 10.2%.

According to the Tourism Information Centre under the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, an analysis of the structure of international visitor markets during the first two months of 2026 shows that nearby Asian markets continue to play a pivotal role. Visitors from the region reached about 3.4 million, accounting for 73% of the total international arrivals during this period.

Notably, the Republic of Korea has regained its position as the largest source market, with about 971,000 visitors in the first two months, a year-on-year rise of roughly 10%.

China ranked second with approximately 923,000 visitors, reaffirming the scale of this major market and continuing to be one of the most important sources of tourists to Viet Nam. Meanwhile, Japan and Taiwan (China) maintained stable growth, helping reinforce the role of Northeast Asia in the overall international visitor structure.

In Southeast Asia, several markets recorded positive growth, reflecting the effectiveness of intra-ASEAN tourism cooperation programmes as well as advantages such as geographical proximity, reasonable travel costs, and convenient transport connectivity.

In addition to traditional markets, India has emerged as a highly promising new market with strong growth momentum. In the first two months of 2026, Viet Nam welcomed about 158,000 Indian visitors, an increase of more than 71% compared with the same period last year. The rapid growth of this market highlights the effectiveness of Viet Nam’s strategy to diversify international visitor sources, particularly with the expansion of direct flights between the two countries, intensification of tourism promotion activities, and an increase in outbound travel demand among India’s growing middle class.

In long-haul markets, Europe continued to be a bright spot, with 847,000 visitors in the first two months of 2026, up 67.4% year on year. European tourists typically stay longer and spend more, contributing to higher economic value for the tourism industry.

The Americas market maintained stable growth, with around 278,000 visitors in two months. The US continues to rank among the top 10 source markets for Viet Nam, with about 210,000 visitors, followed by Canada and Australia.
