The VFF Committees and their staff have overcome all difficulties to reach out to poor people and come to epidemic-hit areas with the goal of “leaving no one behind”. The fatherland front committees are reliable addresses to receive donations from people, enterprises and organisations throughout the country and abroad during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Thereby, the front committees around the country have left important imprints in the epidemic prevention and control, economic restoration and accompanying from all walks of life during the most difficult times.
As soon as the epidemic was gradually controlled, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee issued a plan to launch the month for the poor. The launching aims to mobilise resources to help poor and near-poverty households and people who are living in difficult circumstances and facing damages caused by natural disaster and the epidemic. Thereby, the activity will give motivation for economic recovery and development. Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, along with its member organisations, urgently organised many social security activities to directly support the poor as well as people who were severely affected by the pandemic.
Adapting flexibly to the new normal, the fatherland front committees at all levels have made practical activities towards people, especially those in difficult areas. The central committee has implemented the great national unity festivals around the country on the occasion of the 91st founding anniversary of Vietnam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930-2021). These activities have contributed to encouraging people to overcome all difficulties and challenges, promote the solidarity and consensus during the fight against the pandemic. The VFF Central Committee has coordinated with functional agencies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to thoroughly grasp the situation and the aspirations of overseas Vietnamese while addressing the problems and difficulties to help them stabilise their lives.
In fact, the front committees at all levels have become a bridge connecting the Party and people as well as a reliable address for people within the country and overseas Vietnamese to give their hearts and sources for national construction.
One of the major and important tasks of Vietnam Fatherland Front is to consolidate and promote the strength of great national unity bloc. However, this important mission has been facing certain difficulties and limitations. Notably, the front committees have not fully and promptly assessed and forecasted the developments and changes in mindset of the people of all classes; not kept up with the new situation; and not fully reflected the ideas and aspirations of all people. Meanwhile, a part of Party members, officials and civil servants have not really respected, listened and effectively solved the legitimate requirements of the people.
In order to perform their responsibilities well, the fatherland front committees should continue to focus on better performing its function of representing and protecting the people's legitimate rights and interests through specific actions. Each officer needs to listen to the people, diversify channels to gather people's opinions in order to advise the Party and State. Another important task of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is to always monitor and supervise the settlement of legitimate recommendations and suggestions of the people.
Amid the diverse development of today's society, the Vietnam Fatherland Front needs to continue to innovate its activities, focus on programmes that call for the consensus among society; protecting the people's legitimate rights and interests while encouraging people from all walks of life to actively implement the Party's guidelines, and the State's policies and laws. The committees should also mobilise people to take the initiative and actively contribute to the national construction and participate in the fight against bureaucracy, corruption, negativity and wastefulness.
