According to the department, nearly 15,000 of the workers are female.
During the nine-month period, the markets that attracted large numbers of Vietnamese workers included Taiwan (China) with 19,350 workers, Japan with 19,051 workers, China with 1,425 workers, and the Republic of Korea with 702 workers. A total of 776 workers were sent abroad in September alone.
Vietnam sent more than 78,600 workers abroad in 2020, including more than 28,700 female workers.
The country is expected to send 90,000 workers abroad in 2021 with a focus on markets with high and stable incomes.
The law on Vietnamese workers working abroad under contract was approved by the National Assembly in November 2020 and will officially take effect from January 1, 2022. The law has important amendments to create better protection for Vietnamese workers abroad.
