The winning troupes were the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, the Military University of Culture and Arts, the People’s Police Music Song and Dance Theatre, and the Vietnam National Music Song and Dance Theatre. They earned honours for their respective performances, entitled ‘Mua Dom Dom’ (Firefly Season), ‘Canh Co Bay La Bay La’ (The Storks are Flying), ‘Lekima Do’ (Red Lucuma Fruit), and ‘Mua Xuan Tren Ban H’mong’ (Spring Comes in Mong Ethnic Group’s Village), respectively.
The three other gold medals went to troupes from the Philippines, China and the Republic of Korea.
Ten silver medals were also presented to other troupes at the ceremony.
The five-day festival saw more than 40 dance performances by nearly 500 artists from eight international delegations and 16 Vietnamese troupes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said that the performances represent the cultural identity of each participating countries, as well as of each region of Vietnam through, the language of dancing.
The festival contributed to advertising Vietnamese culture to international friends while providing Vietnamese audiences with a chance to enjoy the beautiful movements of foreign dancers at the same time, he added.
