Under a project dubbed East Meets West – Denmark 2012, the concerts present a rare opportunity to experience an artistic collaboration between highly skilled Vietnamese and Danish orchestral musicians.

The performance will also feature two renowned musicians from Denmark, recorder-player Michala Petri and Danish Vietnamese double-bassist Chris Minh Doky. Petri will feature as a soloist in the first performance and Doky in the second performance.

The concerts will showcase both Vietnamese and Danish music, including a newly-composed Vietnamese piece. Also, Chris Minh Doky’s original arrangement of the Danish hymn ‘Peace rests over land and town’ will be in the repertoire.

Acquainted with the violin since the age of 5, Bùi Công Duy has taken first prize in competitions such as the Novosibirsk International and has been regarded as “The Hope of Asia”.

Petri, having played the recorder since the age of 3, has given around 4000 performances and received numerous awards. The presence of Doky, a jazz musician with several decades of experience from New York to Copenhagen, will add a crossover touch to the performance as the collaboration between the two artists will combine classical and jazz traditions.
