The result marks the fifth consecutive year that VNU has remained among the world's top 700-800 universities. It also continues to rank among the world's top 600 higher education institutions for Impact, which measures the visibility and influence of a university's online academic presence.
Webometrics is an automated ranking system that assesses universities based on three indicators: Impact, which evaluates the visibility of institutional websites and online content; Excellence, measured by highly cited research publications indexed in Scopus; and Openness, based on citation profiles in Google Scholar.
The ranking methodology remains unchanged from previous editions after the Presence indicator, which measured the volume of digital content, was removed. Impact accounts for 50% of the overall score, followed by Excellence (40%) and Transparency (10%).
The latest result follows VNU's strong performance in the QS World University Rankings 2027, released on June 18, in which the university climbed to the 751-760 band globally, its highest-ever position and its fourth consecutive year of improvement.
Other Vietnamese universities in the top 10 of the latest Webometrics rankings include Duy Tan University (1,070th), Ha Noi University of Science and Technology (1,245th), Ton Duc Thang University (1,325th), the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (1,334th), Nguyen Tat Thanh University (1,433rd), the University of Da Nang (1,478th), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology under Viet Nam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (1,558th), Thuy Loi University (1,979th) and Can Tho University (1,999th).
