The contest was launched in mid March by the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, the Vietnam Union of Culture and Arts Association, and the Dien Bien Provincial People’s Committee.

It was among the activities in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (1954-2024).

Themed ‘Songs about Dien Bien’, the contest received nearly 200 entries by over 170 entrants from 47 cities and provinces, across the country.

The entries praised the historic significance of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, patriotism and love for the country and people, and the achievements of Dien Bien Province and the north-west region.

At the ceremony, the organising board presented two second prizes to songs entitled ‘Heroic Song of Dien Bien’ and ‘Travelling to the Land of Glorious Memories’ by Vu Duc Tan and Vu Huyen Ngoc, respectively.

Five third and ten consolation prizes were also given to other outstanding entries. No first prize was awarded.

On the occasion, the Vietnam Musicians’ Association introduced a collection of 70 beautiful songs about Dien Bien.
