The flyover, which will be 5.1km long and 19m wide, is invested in by property developer Vingroup under the build-transfer (BT) model.

In addition, a 3.1km section of the Ring Road 2 from Vinh Tuy to Nga Tu Vong will be expanded and upgraded.

The project to build the flyover and expand Ring Road 2 requires a total investment of over VND9.4 trillion (US$413.6 million), including over VND4.1 trillion (US$180.4 million) for land clearance.

The flyover will pass over the four districts of Hoang Mai, Hai Ba Trung, Thanh Xuan and Dong Da. The project is expected to be completed in 2020.

Vice Chairman of Hanoi municipal People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Hung said that Ring Road 2 plays a crucial role in urban planning and helps to facilitate transportation from the West to the South and East of the city, while addressing traffic congestion and promoting the local economy.

Ring Road 2 is an inner-city road in Hanoi with a total length of 43.6 km. There are two bridges crossing the Red River on the road including the Vinh Tuy Bridge and the Nhat Tan Bridge, as well as the Dong Tru Bridge spanning the Duong River.
