The 100-bed hospital is constructed on an area of 11,600 m2 at a total investment of VND120 billion, of which the State Bank of Vietnam contributed VND50 billion to the project.

Deputy Governor of the bank, Dao Minh Tu said that besides ensuring its professional duties, the banking sector also particularly paid attention to the social activities. The sector has funded construction of 15 clinics and provided five ambulances and other medical equipment to Mekong Delta localities.

This year the banking sector pledged VND400 billion for social security in the region, of which over VND300 billion has been disbursed, he revealed.

According to Chairman of Soc Trang provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Trung Hieu, the project was urgently needed to meet the healthcare demand of local people in the coastal district and help ease current overload at hospitals.

The facility is expected to be put into operation by late 2016.
