The Ministry of Industry and Trade organised a gala programme in Hanoi on November 12 to celebrate 15 years of the Industry and Trade sector implementing the campaign entitled “Vietnamese people prioritise using Vietnamese goods” launched by the Politburo.

The “Vietnamese people prioritise using Vietnamese goods” campaign has been implemented since 2009 according to the Politburo’s Conclusion No.264-TB/TW, dated July 31, 2009, in the context of the world economic crisis strongly affecting Vietnam's economy.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long highly appreciated the results of the “Vietnamese people prioritise using Vietnamese goods” campaign launched by the Politburo.

According to the Deputy PM, the campaign has helped in clearly changing the awareness of habits and behaviours regarding the consumption of Vietnamese goods; over 90% of Vietnamese consumers and businesses now know about the Vietnamese Goods Identification Programme with the names “Proud of Vietnamese Goods” and “Quintessence of Vietnamese Goods”; while over 90% of businesses know about the movement entitled “Vietnamese Goods Conquer Vietnamese People” and over 70% of businesses participate in this movement.

According to the report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the campaign has contributed to the excellent completion of economic targets towards curbing inflation and stabilising the macro economy.

From 2009 to present, the total revenue of retail goods and services has continuously achieved a growth rate of over 10% compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has decreased from a high inflation rate of 19.8% in 2008 to below 5% from 2014 to present.
