The event was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Bac Ninh Province.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong emphasised that the Cheo Festival is a special artistic event that honours, preserves, and promotes the values of a unique traditional theatrical form – Cheo art. Despite the ups and downs of history, Cheo has retained its distinctive charm, deeply reflecting the soul, character, and aspirations for truth, goodness and beauty of the Vietnamese people.

It also serves as an opportunity for art troupes to meet, exchange experiences, and learn from one another, thereby improving their professional quality and bringing Cheo art closer to the public.

The participating troupes will perform 21 outstanding Cheo plays at the Bac Ninh Provincial Culture and Exhibition Centre at 9:30 am and 8:00 pm daily from October 20 to November 2. These performances celebrate the people, the traditional history, and the homeland of Viet Nam, while inspiring the aspiration for a prosperous and happy nation.

Among the participating troupes, the Ninh Binh Traditional Arts Theatre presents four plays; the Hung Yen Cheo Theatre contributes three; while the National Traditional Stage Theatre, the Army Cheo Theatre, the Ha Noi Cheo Theatre, and the Bac Ninh Cheo Theatre each stage two performances.
