The information was announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Affairs at a press brief held in the city on February 29.

The festival aims to strengthen connectivity and boost cultural, trade and cuisine exchange to tighten the excellent relations between Vietnam and Japan. It is also expected to help enterprises of both countries seek business opportunities and introduce key projects of both sides.

“With the determination, unanimity and efforts of both sides, we believe that the 9th Vietnam-Japan Festival in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to reap many practical results, contributing to connecting the people of the two countries and creating a solid basis for a deeper and more substantial cooperation between the two countries,” said Tran Phuoc Anh, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of External Affairs.

Ono Masuo, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, said that this year’s festival will offer people and tourists many unique activities, traditional Japanese dances such as Yosakoi and Awa Odori, vibrant J-Pop performances from famous bands, a unique combination of performances between Vietnamese and Japanese artists, cosplay activities, and the display of Japanese anime. In particular, there will be an area for visitors to experience the bicycle culture of Japan.

The Vietnam-Japan Festival is one of the largest festivals held annually in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting much attention from residents and tourists. In 2023, the 8th festival of its kind was organised successfully during the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, which attracted nearly 500,000 visitors.
