Art, heritage and cultural industries raise voices together

The artistic programme “Light Concert – Welcome the New Year 2026” officially took place under the theme “Vibrant Light” at August Revolution Square (Ha Noi) on the evening of January 31.

The programme was jointly organised by Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Ha Noi People’s Committee, continuing the success of the first “Light Concert” held in 2025.

Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC Commission for Communication, Education, and Mass Mobilisation, and Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association, affirmed: “This year, the programme offers audiences unprecedented experiences in terms of content, art technology, and approach.”

The choice of August Revolution Square and the Ha Noi Opera House as performance spaces once again demonstrates a consistent approach in connecting contemporary art with heritage.

Within the overall programme, the architecture of this historic work became part of the performance language, honoured through a system of dynamic lighting, projections, and modern visual staging.

Light — the central factor of the programme — was used as a narrative language, guiding audience emotions through multiple layers of space and time, from cultural depth and collective memory to the optimistic spirit and aspiration for renewal of society in the new year.

“Light Concert – Welcome the New Year 2026” brought together a multi-generational lineup of artists representing diverse musical colours, creating a highly connective and rich artistic picture.

Participating artists included Lam Truong, Truc Nhan, Dong Hung, Hoang Quyen, Kieu Anh, and guitarist Cao Minh Duc, along with young singers such as Hien VK, Quan A.P, Phuong Ly, and Bui Truong Linh.

In addition, the appearance of child artists such as Ali Thuc Phuong, Kim Cuong, and Dang Kim Thien Kim helped broaden the emotional space, creating a natural continuity between generations.

The performances were arranged along a coherent narrative flow, featuring many new arrangements based on familiar melodies, both evoking musical memories and conveying a modern spirit, suitable for an outdoor performance space with the participation of a large audience.

A notable highlight of the programme was the appearance of Lumi — the mascot of the “Ha Noi International Light Festival.”

Lumi was developed as a consistent visual figure, contributing to shaping the festival’s identity and creating a distinctive mark for the “Light Concert” in urban cultural life.

The development of a symbolic character for the festival reflects an industrial cultural approach, whereby the programme goes beyond an immediate artistic experience towards forming cultural products with the capacity for wide dissemination, long-term memorability, and companionship with the public.

Within the “Light Concert” space, Lumi became a visual bridge between art, the public and the festival spirit, particularly close to young people and families.

“Light Concert – Welcome the New Year 2026” attracted a large number of residents and visitors. The organisation not only facilitates easier public access to art, but also helps create community moments, in which music, light, and common space connect people through shared experience.
