The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) has approved a project to hold the second ASEAN Graphic Arts Competition and Exhibition in Hanoi in August 2016, on the occasion of ASEAN’s 49th anniversary (August 8, 1967-2016).

The competition will be held for contemporary artists from the 10 ASEAN countries - Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the host Vietnam.

The entries submitted to the competition must have been created over the last three years (2013-2016) and can include embossed prints, concave prints, flat prints, collagraphs, multidimensional prints, gum prints and digital prints.

The works should reflect the landscapes and the life of people in ASEAN countries as well as highlight urgent and contemporary issues relevant to all ASEAN countries such as climate change, peace, solidarity and friendship.

The top entries will be selected for display at an exhibition which is scheduled to be held in Hanoi in August 2016.

The competition and exhibition aims to contribute to boosting cultural exchange and international co-operation, particularly in the field of fine arts, among the 10 ASEAN countries.

The programme offers a good opportunity for Vietnamese and other ASEAN countries’ painters to meet and present their newest works, significantly contributing to promoting the images of their nations to the world.

The first ASEAN Graphic Arts Competition and Exhibition was co-organised in Hanoi in August 2012.
