Bringing love of history closer to the younger generation

On May 26, Nhan Dan Newspaper recreated an experiential space of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign at Tran Phu High School. The activity coincided with the school's closing ceremony for the 2024–2025 academic year and the farewell to students of grade 12.

Previously, from April 23 to May 4, Nhan Dan Newspaper held a special media campaign to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025). The event took place as people across the country looked toward this historic milestone, marking the historical moment when the nation was reunified and open a new era of national independence and socialism 50 years ago.

Following the success of the commemorative campaign, Nhan Dan Newspaper brought the experiential space of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign to schools. The activity aimed to re-enact the glorious heroic milestones of the campaign and related historical lessons, thereby contributing to educating patriotism and evoking national pride in younger generations.

Arriving early at school, Le Tue Giang, a student from grade 12D2, shared her emotions: "Today's closing ceremony is truly special because it's the last day we gather here as students of Tran Phu High School. The event is even more meaningful as an exhibition on the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South has been set up right in the schoolyard by Nhan Dan Newspaper. To me personally, the exhibition serves as a reminder to cherish our history and never forget the sacrifices made by previous generations for our country."

As one of the first students to explore the experiential space, Nguyen Hung Lam, a student from grade 11A5, remarked that organising the exhibition was a highly engaging way to help students better understand and remember historical events and milestones.

Lam noted that learning history through direct interaction such as seeing, hearing, and feeling, was far more compelling than simply reading textbook. He also viewed the experience as an innovative way to attract more young readers to Nhan Dan Newspaper.

On this occasion, Nhan Dan Newspaper presented 500 copies of the special publication on the Ho Chi Minh Campaign to the teachers and students of Tran Phu High School. In addition to valuable information and images, the publication also featured QR codes that allowed readers to access campaign-related videos directly from the pages of the newspaper.

Dang Thi Thanh Hoa, a history teacher at the school, said that the mobile exhibition organised by Nhan Dan Newspaper was akin to a highly engaging and enriching extracurricular lesson.

“Our students had the opportunity to explore legendary battles and campaigns from multiple perspectives and in diverse contexts. In particular, historical stories became more relatable than ever, as they were experienced in a space that recreated key scenes from the campaign right in the schoolyard,” Thanh Hoa said.
