The Nghe An provincial Border Guard said that they successfully towed the broken down boat with 14 crew members to the shore of Cua Lo at midnight on June 22.
Earlier on June 19, the Cua Lo-Ben Thuy Border Guard Station received a SOS signal from the fishing boat coded NA 90988, captained by Truong Van Thuy, aged 56 from Nghe An, stating that it had broken down and was drifting in the East Sea’s eastern area, approximately 93 nautical miles from Cua Lo.
The Nghe An provincial Border Guard sent its ship coded BP 06-19-01 and 15 officers to rescue the distressed boat. All crew members were rescued and the broken ship was tugged into Cua Lo port at 22:20 on June 22.
Earlier on June 19, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) rescued all seven crew members aboard NA93061TS which had broken down roughly100 nautical miles from Nghe An sea on June 16.
