Ceremony in Thailand marks President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday

A ceremony was held in Nakhon Phanom Province, Thailand, on May 19 to observe the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (1890-2024).

The event was co-hosted by the provincial authorities of Nakhon Phanom and the Association of Vietnamese – Thai People in the province.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung emphasised that the ceremony marking President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, which is held annually in Nakhon Phanom Province, is an important event demonstrating the good sentiment of the locality’s authorities and the people towards the great Vietnamese leader.

He took the occasion to convey his sincere thanks to the king, the royal family, the government, and the people of Thailand, as well as Nakhon Phanom Province in particular, for creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Thailand.

He called on Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand and in Nakhon Phanom Province in particular to further promote solidarity and mutual support, make active contributions to the development in their living areas while contributing to strengthening Vietnam - Thailand diplomatic relations.

For his part, Wanchai Janporn, Governor of Nakhon Phanom Province, stressed the significance of May 19 — the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh — among Vietnamese people around the world

He extended his greetings to Vietnamese people, and expressed his wishes for closer Thailand – Vietnam ties.

At the ceremony, the organisers presented gifts to local students. The local Thai authorities also donated 20,000 THB to support the construction of a Vietnam welcome gate in Nakhon Phanom Province.
