Against the backdrop of economic restructuring towards industrialisation and modernisation, as well as the development of high value-added sectors, labour demand is undergoing significant changes. Digital transformation and the development of the digital economy are creating many new employment models, while also requiring workers to have higher vocational skills, digital skills and adaptability.
While some young workers are leaving their localities to seek employment in urban areas and industrial parks, many domestic and international enterprises are facing a shortage of skilled labour.
To gradually address the issues raised, tap into local potential and attract external investment into ethnic minority and mountainous areas, the workshop focused on discussing the current situation of labour and employment in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; difficulties and shortcomings in implementing policies on employment creation, economic development and improving the quality of human resources in ethnic minority and mountainous areas; the potential for economic and service development and employment creation for local people in each locality; and proposed policies and solutions to create employment, develop the economy and establish sustainable labour connections in ethnic minority and mountainous areas...
According to Deputy Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Nong Thi Ha, to address the issues raised at the workshop, ministries, sectors and localities will focus on key groups of solutions in the coming period, including promoting internal strengths, attracting investment, renewing vocational training and promoting the service and tourism economies to create sustainable employment in ethnic minority areas.
The results of the workshop will provide an important basis for advising on specific policies, including a livelihood component under the new phase of the national target programme.
