On the afternoon of August 5, the Organising Committee of the Dak Lak Durian Festival 2026 held a press conference in Buon Ma Thuot Ward to announce the festival’s programme and activities.
The press conference was co-chaired by Dao My, Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Organising Committee of the Dak Lak Durian Festival 2026, and Tran Hong Tien, Director of the Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Standing Deputy Head of the Organising Committee. The event was attended by representatives of provincial departments, agencies and local authorities, as well as numerous journalists and reporters from central and local media organisations.
Speaking at the press conference, Tran Hong Tien, Director of the Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the Dak Lak Durian Festival 2026, themed “Dak Lak Durian – Connecting and Reaching Further”, will take place from August 15 to September 2, 2026, in Buon Ma Thuot Ward, Krong Pac Commune, Tuy Hoa Ward, and other durian-growing communes across Dak Lak Province.
This marks the first time that the Durian Festival has been elevated to a provincial-level event, building on the success of the previous two editions organised by the former Krong Pac District.
Organising the festival at the provincial level is intended not only to honour the durian tree and its growers but also to promote the image, potential and strengths of Dak Lak. It aims to foster trade, investment and tourism promotion, strengthen links among businesses, cooperatives and production, processing and distribution establishments, and gradually develop a sustainable durian industry ecosystem.
The festival is positioned not merely as a cultural event but also as a practical economic, trade and tourism initiative, offering an opportunity to present Dak Lak as a dynamic province with a distinctive cultural identity and considerable potential in agriculture, tourism and international integration.
It is expected to attract around 300,000 visitors, while increasing overnight stays through a continuous series of cultural, tourism, trade and experiential activities held throughout the event.
The event will feature 17 activities, including two pre-festival events dedicated to publicity and promotion, and 15 activities taking place during the festival's official programme.
