As part of activities marking the 45th anniversary of the Dong Loc victory and the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, the memorial service is an expression of the profound gratitude of the current generation for those who sacrificed themselves fighting for the nation’s independence.
The same day, an art performance and anniversary ceremony were held to recount the patriotic tradition of Ha Tinh’s people and soldiers and particularly honour those at Dong Loc junction.
Dong Loc junction is a strategic point on the Ho Chi Minh Trail where in 1968 ten young female volunteers were killed during a US bombardment.
Speaking at the event, Politburo member To Huy Rua praised Ha Tinh for its recent socio-economic achievements and called on the province to make greater efforts to transform Ha Tinh into a better locality.
Meanwhile in southern Tien Giang province, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the provincial martyrs’ cemetery and gave presents to nation’s contributors in the province.
