Honorary citizen of Hue city title conferred on Kang Bong Jun

On April 17, the People’s Committee of Hue city held a ceremony to honour and confer the title of “Honorary Citizen of Hue City” on Kang Bong Jun, a national of the Republic of Korea and General Director of SMC Hue Co., Ltd., in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the locality’s socio-economic development.

The ceremony was chaired by Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hue city, with the participation of representatives from departments, sectors and relevant agencies.

Over more than 15 years of engagement with Hue, Kang Bong Jun has participated in and accompanied the city in many key areas such as urban development planning, investment promotion, tourism promotion and social welfare activities. He contributed to adjustments to the master plan of Hue city for the 2011- 2024 period, as well as detailed planning for both banks of the Huong River and pedestrian routes.

In addition, he supported the organisation of international forums, the Hue Festival, business connectivity, and the launch of charter flights between Phu Bai and Incheon, contributing to promoting Hue’s image internationally.

In the social sphere, he funded the construction of sanitation facilities for 100 Co Tu households, supported disadvantaged people in A Luoi and Nam Dong, and promoted training in 3D, AR and VR technologies for Hue students.

Speaking at the ceremony, city leaders acknowledged Kang Bong Jun’s practical contributions and expressed their hope that he would continue to accompany Hue in the coming period.

For his part, Kang Bong Jun expressed his appreciation for the honour, affirming that he would continue to promote cooperation, connect businesses and support the development of key sectors, towards sustainable cooperation between Hue and partners from the Republic of Korea.
