The programme will kick off with the recreation of a traditional ‘Ong Cong - Ong Tao’ (Land Genie and Kitchen Gods) ceremony on January 23.

At the event, cultural researcher Pham Xuan Nguyen is scheduled to share his studies of traditional Tet celebration of Ha Tinh province.

The museum will then reopen after its short close between January 28 and February 2, delighting visitors with traditional performances, such as Vi Giam (folk singing of central region), the bamboo pole dance of Thai people and Ca Tru (ceremonial singing) of Co Dam villagers from Ha Tinh province.

Meanwhile, children will have a chance to enjoy folk games of ethnic minority groups, such as walking on stilts, swing, Con (cloth ball) throw, and tug of war.

The activities also include calligraphy performances, Dong Ho folk painting, conical hat making, mat weaving, and Chung (Square) cake making.

The programme is designed to meet the entertainment demand of Hanoi city dwellers on the first days of New Year festival while preserving and promoting the cultural heritages of Vietnamese ethnic groups.
