The exhibition, part of the Hue Festival 2026, showcases 45 works created by participants of the 5th creative residency programme, held from May 10 to June 10.
During the residency, the artists explored doors, city gates and ancient windows within Hue’s architectural heritage, capturing their beauty, artistry and cultural significance.
Beyond their architectural value, the theme ‘Doors to Hue’s Heritage’ also conveys the connection between past and present, between physical space and spiritual life. Each door opens onto a story, a layer of memory, a distinctive cultural depth.
Each work on display is not merely a record or depiction in colour and strokes but a dialogue between the artist and Hue’s cultural space, between memory and creativity, between heritage and the future.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung, Deputy Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, said the exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of Hue’s heritage, raise public awareness about conservation and enhance the value of cultural heritage.
The event also affirms the role of contemporary art in promoting the enduring values of the ancient capital, he added.
At the opening ceremony, the organisers presented awards to nine painters whose works stood out among the entries of the 5th creative residency programme.
