Film Week opens in Quang Ngai to celebrate International Children's Day

On the evening of May 31, the Cinema Department, in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai Province and FPT Television Company Limited (FPT Play), held the opening ceremony of a Film Week celebrating International Children's Day (June 1) in Quang Ngai.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr Do Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Cinema Department, said that the Film Week has practical significance in providing children with a useful cultural space where they can enjoy age-appropriate films during the summer holidays.

He emphasised that through the films screened during the Film Week, the organisers hope to bring children stories rich in human values, helping to foster love for the homeland, family bonds, friendship, solidarity, and the determination to overcome challenges in life.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Phan Van Hoang, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai Province, said that through a range of educational films imbued with humanitarian and historical values, the Film Week aims to nurture patriotism, shape character, enrich young minds, inspire dreams, and encourage creativity among the younger generation. At the same time, the event is a practical activity to expand film dissemination in support of political tasks, contributing to narrowing the gap in cultural access, particularly for children in remote areas, ethnic minority communities, mountainous regions, islands, and disadvantaged localities.

The films screened during the Film Week include two cinema releases jointly distributed by the Cinema Department and Sconnect Holdings Company Limited: “Trang Quynh Nhi: The Legend of the Golden Buffalo” and “Wolfoo and the Three Realms Race”, along with several animated films available on the FPT Play platform, including “Trying a Day as a Mother”, “The Mysterious Boxes”, “Wolfoo’s Dream”, “Lucy’s Loudspeaker”, and “Wolfoo in the Conveyor Belt Restaurant”.

In addition to films distributed through digital platforms, the Cinema Department is organising nationwide screenings of State-commissioned productions, including 15 animated films by the Viet Nam Animation Joint Stock Company: “Father of the Little Chick”, “The Gecko Detective”, “The Dragonfly’s Home”, “The Tall Young Man”, “Crocodile Tears”, “The Red-Hatted Turtle”, the “Golden Calf Knight” series, the “Red-Nosed Cat Warrior” series, and the “Flying Snail” series. The feature film “Maika – The Girl from Another Planet” will also be screened to support political and educational objectives and enrich the spiritual life of children.

The films are being screened nationwide. To ensure intellectual property rights and commercial exploitation rights for producers, the films are distributed through the FPT Play platform and connected to mobile cinema teams across provinces and cities nationwide.

In Quang Ngai Province — the host locality of the opening ceremony — in addition to the films included in the Film Week programme, the organisers are also screening the animated film “De Men: Adventure to the muddy hamlet” and the feature film “Face Off 8: Embrace of Sunshine” for the local residents and children.

Notably, alongside direct screenings for audiences in localities, this year the Cinema Department has collaborated with FPT Play to introduce film distribution through digital platforms. This initiative is expected to expand children's access to a diverse range of attractive and age-appropriate films. It also represents a new direction in film distribution and dissemination in support of political tasks and public service during the current period of digital transformation.
