Former Vice President Truong My Hoa, Chairwoman of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, expressed her thanks to the leader of the Ministry of Defence for the meeting, adding that the support of the Defence Ministry has contributed to promoting the scholarship fund and creating a spillover effect in society.

She also reviewed the performance of the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund over the past 25 years, especially the grant of 125,000 scholarships to students across the country to help them overcome difficulties to pursue their study.

General Phan Van Giang, a Politburo member and Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, praised the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund for its practical activities during its 25 years, especially in caring for ethnic minority students and children of soldiers.

Additionally, the development of the scholarship fund is a journey worthy of recognition and honour which has spread the message of humanity and the silent efforts of dedicated members to build the fund, Giang stressed.

Defence Minister Phan Van Giang noted that the military force has held many programmes to support needy people, including disadvantaged students in ethnic and mountainous areas. Each year, the military forces sponsor an average of 3,500 needy students and open 130 classes to eradicate illiteracy and universalise education for children in border and mountainous areas.

He expressed his hope that the executive board of the scholarship fund and the fund chairwoman will continue boosting the journey of sharing and compassion for remote areas across the country.
