Goods trade reaches nearly 600 billion USD in eight months

In the first eight months of 2025, the total value of Viet Nam’s import and export goods reached nearly 598 billion USD, with a trade surplus of nearly 14 billion USD.

According to data from the General Department of Customs, in August 2025 alone, the total value of Viet Nam’s trade goods stood at 83.06 billion USD, up 0.9% from the previous month.

Of this, exports reached 43.39 billion USD (up 2.6%) and imports stood at 39.67 billion USD (down 0.8%). The goods trade balance in August recorded a surplus of 3.72 billion USD.

Overall, in the first eight months of 2025, the total value of the country’s goods imports and exports reached 597.93 billion USD, up 16.3% (equivalent to an increase of 83.89 billion USD) compared to the same period last year.

Exports totalled 305.96 billion USD (up 14.8%), while imports reached 291.97 billion USD (up 17.9%). The goods trade balance in the eight months posted a surplus of 13.99 billion USD, lower than the 18.83 billion USD surplus in the same period of 2024.

Notably, state budget revenue from import and export activities in August reached 35.501 trillion VND, down 10.2% from July. The cumulative revenue over the eight months stood at 298.301 trillion VND, equivalent to 72.6% of the yearly estimate and up 8.4% year on year.
