Hanoi halts entertainment activities for 4 days to commemorate fire victims

Cultural, sports and entertainment activities in Hanoi will be suspended for four days, from September 14 to 17, to commemorate the victims of the mini apartment building fire.

At 8am on September 18, State agencies in Hanoi will hold a moment of silence for the victims who died in the fire on Khuong Ha Street, Thanh Xuan District.

On September 14, Chairman of Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh requested that heads of State agencies in Hanoi temporarily stop the organisation of cultural events, sports games, and entertainment activities in the city for four days.

In the late night of September 12 and early morning of September 13, a particularly serious fire occurred at a mini apartment building at No.37, Alley 29/70, Khuong Ha Street, Khuong Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District. The fire killed 56 people and injured 37 others.
