Hanoi holds moment of silence for victims of mini apartment fire

State agencies in Hanoi, on the morning of September 18, observed a minute of silence to commemorate the victims of the mini apartment building fire in Khuong Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District.

At the Hanoi Party Committee office, Politburo member and Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung and all staff held a moment of silence for the victims of the fire. They also raised funds to support the families of victims, with a minimum donation of one day’s salary.

In Thanh Xuan District, officials from the District Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee, observed a moment of silence at the District Hall.

Khuong Dinh Primary School and Khuong Dinh Secondary School also held a moment of silence for their students who were killed in the blaze.

Many other schools in Hanoi also organised ceremonies in commemoration of fire victims and raised funds to support the families of victims.

Earlier, Hanoi halted the organisation of cultural events, sports games, and entertainment activities in the city for four days, from September 14 to 17.
