The remains were recovered during the 2024–2025 dry season by a team from the provincial Military Command, in close coordination with Lao authorities. The identities of the fallen soldiers have not yet been determined.

Delegates at the ceremony laid wreaths and offered incense in tribute to the services of the martyrs who devoted their youth for the independence and freedom of Viet Nam and Laos, and for the peace and well-being of their peoples.

A similar event was held the same day at Tong Khao Martyrs’ Cemetery in Dien Bien Province for seven Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos during wartime.

The remains were among eight remains recovered during the 2024-2025 dry season. Of those, only one was identified thanks to sufficient information, and the remains of the martyr were returned to his family in Ha Giang Province.
