Memorial service held for fallen soldiers repatriated from Laos, Cambodia

Memorial and burial services for the remains of 26 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives in Laos and Cambodia during wartime were held at the Ngoc Hoi martyrs’ cemetery in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on May 16.

The remains were collected during the 2024–2025 dry season by Team K53 of the Kon Tum provincial Military Command, in coordination with authorities in Attapeu, Sekong, and Champasak (Laos), and Ratanakiri (Cambodia). Of the 26 remains, 16 were found in Laos and 10 in Cambodia.

Since the beginning of its mission, Team K53 has located and repatriated a total of 1,393 remains of Vietnamese martyrs, including 935 from the three southern provinces of Laos and 458 from Ratanakiri province in Cambodia.
