The National Festival of Tuong and Folk Opera 2025 is a cultural event of special significance, honouring the rich traditional artistic values imbued with national cultural identity. It helps audiences understand and deepen their appreciation of Tuong and folk opera, two distinctive art forms that embody profound aesthetic values and humanistic philosophy in Vietnamese culture. At the same time, the festival aims to discover new creative talents while nurturing love, passion, and responsibility for preserving and promoting traditional arts among generations of artists and performers.

The festival is not only a platform for exchange, learning, and sharing artistic experience among professional art units nationwide, but also an opportunity to put forward solutions for renovating management, staging, performance, and training methods in line with development requirements in the new era. It also honours outstanding artists, playwrights, directors, and units for their contributions to preserving and innovating traditional performing arts.

The festival features 14 elaborately produced plays which reflect contemporary social life, celebrate Vietnamese history, homeland, and people, and uphold moral and humanistic values and the aspiration towards goodness. Nearly 1,000 artists and performers from 10 art units across the country will take part in the festival.

All participating performances must demonstrate clear ideological themes, uphold beauty and humanistic values, convey forward-looking messages, and generate positive impacts on social life. This contributes to building comprehensive Vietnamese citizens, inspiring the aspiration for national prosperity and happiness, and promoting the strength of Vietnamese culture and people in the cause of national construction and defence.

The festival’s awards structure includes the Outstanding Play Award and the Outstanding Performer Award (one male and one female), along with Gold and Silver Medals for plays and performers that meet the artistic criteria set out in the award regulations. In addition, Outstanding Awards will be presented to creative contributors such as playwrights, directors, composers, and set designers.
