On the morning of June 17, in Ha Noi, the Viet Nam Journalists Association held a press conference to provide information about the National Press Festival 2026 and the 20th National Press Awards Ceremony.
Speaking at the press conference, Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists Association, said that on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of Viet Nam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925–June 21, 2026), under the direction of the Central Commission for Communication, Education and Mass Mobilisation, the Viet Nam Journalists Association, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Hai Phong City, will organise a series of national-scale events.
These include the National Press Festival 2026, the National Press Forum 2026, the 20th National Press Awards Ceremony, and the final round of the “Expanded Singing Contest for Journalists 2026.”
The events represent an important political and professional occasion for journalists nationwide, taking place as the sector continues to implement the resolutions of the 14th National Party Congress, promote the development of a professional, humane and modern revolutionary press, and carry out the national press digital transformation strategy through 2030.
Nguyen Duc Loi emphasised that holding the event in Hai Phong for the first time is not only an opportunity to honour the proud traditions of Viet Nam’s revolutionary press but also a forum for networking, sharing experiences, promoting innovation and digital transformation, and reaffirming the pioneering role of the press in the country’s new era of development.
This year’s festival carries the theme “Viet Nam Journalism – Loyal, Creative and Responsible in a New Era”, with the participation of 66 media organisations and journalist associations from across the country.
The exhibition space has been designed as a journey connecting tradition and the future, showcasing the outstanding achievements of Vietnamese journalism over more than a century of development. It also highlights the role of the press in Party building, safeguarding the Party’s ideological foundation, accompanying national development, and promoting international integration.
The 20th National Press Awards Ceremony will be a special highlight of the commemorative activities celebrating the 101st anniversary of Viet Nam Revolutionary Press Day. The awards are the highest professional honour in Vietnamese journalism, organised annually to recognise authors and groups of authors whose outstanding works have made significant contributions to revolutionary journalism.
This year, the National Press Awards Council selected 123 outstanding works for recognition, including 11 First Prizes, 26 Second Prizes, 50 Third Prizes, and 36 Consolation Prizes across 13 award categories. The honoured works vividly reflect major national issues, helping to build social consensus and strengthen public confidence.
Marking the 20-year journey of the National Press Awards, this year’s ceremony will not only honour excellence but also look back on two decades of accompanying the nation’s development, reaffirming the pioneering role of revolutionary journalism in national construction and defence.
