The speedboat, with a capacity of nearly 300 passengers, will conduct four trips a day. The fare is 185,000 VND per person for local people and 218,000 VND per person for tourists.

The boat, operated by Phu Quoc Express JSC, is the seventh speedboat carrying passengers to Ly Son Island.

The Phu Quoc Express 5, which was used to welcome the US Navy’s USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier in Da Nang, can safely operate in harsh weather and will shorten the Sa Ky - Ly Son route to only about 35 minutes.

Nguyen Huu Doan, director of the Port Management Board and Inland Waterways Administration under the Quang Ngai Department of Transport said: “Five passenger transport companies are running seven boats on the Sa Ky - Ly Son route and there will be two more boats in the near future. Hopefully, with the increasing number of boats and improved design, the boats will better serve tourists, especially in the peak tourist season, with about 3,000 visitors per day using the service.”
