The international organisation Skytrax has officially announced the results of the world airport rankings for 2026. Accordingly, Noi Bai International Airport has made an impressive leap, rising to 71st place, up 8 positions from 79th in 2025.
This result is based on the objective assessment of millions of global passengers through strict criteria on service quality, level of convenience and operational processes. Maintaining its presence in the Top 100 for the 8th consecutive time demonstrates the persistent efforts of Noi Bai International Airport in improving the image of Viet Nam’s aviation on the international map. In addition to Noi Bai, another member of the Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV), Da Nang International Airport, also excellently made it into the Top 100 best airports in the world in 2026, with an impressive rise of 9 places compared to last year.
The rise in ranking of Noi Bai in 2026 is associated with comprehensive improvements in infrastructure. The airport has focused on renovating and expanding check-in areas at both passenger terminals, helping to optimise space and significantly increase operational capacity, ensuring smooth operations even during peak periods. Alongside the expansion of space, the system of smart equipment has also been newly and synchronously invested in. From check-in areas, security screening to baggage conveyor systems, all have been integrated with modern technologies to shorten waiting times and bring maximum convenience to passengers.
In addition, passenger service amenities and the landscape appearance at the airport have also been upgraded according to “green airport” standards, creating a modern, friendly and inspiring travel space right from the moment passengers arrive at the capital’s gateway. Not only stopping at physical infrastructure, Noi Bai has also scored points thanks to its comprehensive digital transformation strategy. The implementation of the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) model has contributed to increasing flight operation efficiency, helping airlines save fuel, improve on-time performance and reduce emissions into the environment.
At the same time, strengthening the application of technology in management and automated services (self-service) such as the self-kiosk system, Autogate… has optimised waiting time, bringing maximum proactiveness to passengers.
In addition, the spirit of close coordination among units operating at the airport - from State management agencies, the Police force, Immigration Police, Customs to ground service units and airlines - is the key to creating this achievement. All efforts revolve around the philosophy of “Putting passengers at the centre”. From the smiles of check-in staff to the well-equipped waiting areas, everything has been standardised to meet the strictest standards of Skytrax.
Continuing to be honoured in the World Airport Awards 2026 ranking is a great honour for Noi Bai International Airport and the agencies, units and enterprises operating at the airport. This achievement not only affirms the position of Viet Nam’s aviation industry in the international arena but also contributes to enhancing the image of the capital Ha Noi.
To Tu Ha, Director of Noi Bai International Airport, affirmed: “We consider the 71st position as motivation to continue innovating. Noi Bai will continuously listen and continuously upgrade so that every journey of customers through the capital’s gateway is a complete and memorable experience.”
