The festival's main activity is a drone light competition with four teams from France, China, the Republic of Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In his welcoming speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong noted that the festival is not only an international cultural and entertainment event but also an opportunity to honour the beauty of Nha Trang’s nature, culture and humans.
He also expects the event to boost Nha Trang’s economic development and help realise Khanh Hoa Province’s goal of welcoming 9 million visitors in 2024.
Nha Trang International Light Bay Festival takes place on two nights: July 13 and July 20.
The opening night was a competition between the Republic of Korea and China, under the theme “Glamour Nha Trang”, featuring colourful and vivid images of Nha Trang’s landscapes.
The second performance night is between France and the UAE, under the theme “Night of the Wonders”, followed by a closing ceremony to be held on Hon Tre Island in the middle of Nha Trang Bay.
According to the organisers, the event expects to attract over 50,000 residents and visitors to watch live performances each night.
Director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, said the province aims to welcome 9 million visitors, including 3 million foreign visitors, in 2024, with tourism revenue at 40 trillion VND (1.57 billion USD).
