Nhan Dan Newspaper’s "Love Vietnam so much" project implemented in Yen Bai Province

In early March, as part of the "Yeu Lam Viet Nam" (Love Vietnam so much) project, Nhan Dan Newspaper, in collaboration with a technology partner, installed Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology chip-embedded boards at three significant historical sites in Yen Bai Province. This project was dedicated to commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Southern liberation and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Through the "Yeu Lam Viet Nam" project, historical and cultural landmarks in all 63 provinces and cities across the country will be connected via technology, offering visitors a unique experience. The project aims to preserve and promote cultural heritage values while supporting and boosting local tourism.

At each location selected for the project, Nhan Dan Newspaper will install an NFC chip-embedded board. Visitors can simply use their phones to interact with the chip-embedded board to access stories and images about the site and its province or city. Additionally, the interactive board provides search, navigation, and information features to help visitors explore the attractions in the area and nearby locations.

In addition to providing information, each interactive board also serves as a community connection tool, allowing visitors to upload personal photos and messages to the "Yeu Lam Viet Nam" program, thus helping to spread love for the homeland and the country.

In Yen Bai Province, NFC chip-embedded boards have been installed at three important historical and cultural sites, including the Khau Pha guerrilla team establishment site on the peak of Khau Pha Pass in Cao Pha Commune, Mu Cang Chai District; the Memorial Site of President Ho Chi Minh in Nghia Lo Town; and the national-level historical and cultural site of Dong Cuong Temple in Dong Cuong Commune, Van Yen District.

Located at the peak of Khau Pha Pass (also known as "Sky Horn") at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, the Khau Pha guerrilla team establishment site covers an area of 2,100 square meters in Tong Khua Village, Cao Pha Commune, Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province. Recognised as a national historical site, it honours the brave H’Mong ethnic fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country's independence and freedom. It serves as a "Red Address" for educating younger generations about history and patriotism.

Before 1945, the Khau Pha guerrilla team used the terrain and mist to their advantage, launching surprise attacks on enemy forces along the pass. They continuously ambushed French troops moving between Nghia Lo and Lai Chau or Lao Cai, using flintlock rifles and rock traps. Their tactics were so formidable that the French nicknamed them the "warriors of the mist" in fear and respect.

Historical records show that the team engaged in multiple battles between 1946 and 1952, causing significant difficulties and losses for the French forces. While training and standing guard to protect civilians and agricultural activities at the pass, the team also leveraged the mountainous terrain to coordinate with main force and local troops, achieving outstanding military victories.

In 2012, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism officially recognised the Khau Pha guerrilla team establishment site as a national historical site.

The Memorial Site of President Ho Chi Minh in Nghia Lo Town is a cultural landmark of profound political and social significance. It represents the gratitude of the Party, government, and people of various groups in Van Chan District and Nghia Lo Town, formerly part of Hoang Lien Son Province (now Yen Bai Province), towards President Ho Chi Minh — "Vietnam’s national liberation hero and an outstanding cultural figure of humanity."

Covering an area of 2.15 hectares, the memorial site includes several key structures, including Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house; an exhibition house showcasing images, documents, and artifacts related to President Ho Chi Minh; an ethnic artifacts exhibition house; an administrative office; a multipurpose hall; an orchard; and Ho Chi Minh’s fish pond; along with other auxiliary structures

Since March 2009, the memorial site has also been responsible for managing the Nghia Lo Prison and Outpost Historic-Cultural Site, a national historical site. Behind Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house, a commemorative house has been built to display photographs of President Ho Chi Minh with ethnic communities from Tay Bac and Viet Bac, with the armed forces, southern compatriots, youths, women, children, and his contributions to national development. The exhibition also features writings about him by domestic and international authors, as well as early images of the memorial site’s establishment.

Meanwhile, the national-level historical and cultural site of Dong Cuong Temple is located in Ben Den Village, Dong Cuong Commune, Van Yen District, Yen Bai Province. It is one of the sacred temples along the Red River, dedicated primarily to Mau De Nhi Thuong Ngan (Second Mother of the Highlands) in the Tam Phu (Three Palaces) Mother Goddess Worship tradition of the Vietnamese people.

In addition to Mau De Nhi Thuong Ngan, Dong Cuong Temple also honours the Ve Quoc (Guardian of the Nation) deities, who were local heroes in the resistance against the Mongol-Yuan invasions, including figures such as Ha Dac, Ha Chuong, and Ha Bong — leaders who guided the local people in battle and were martyred.

Dong Cuong Temple has retained its traditional ethnic identity and the unique cultural heritage of the Tay Khao people throughout history.

With the installation of interactive NFC chip-embedded boards at these three important historical sites, the "Yeu Lam Viet Nam" project is expected to promote digital transformation, enhance the management and utilisation of cultural heritage, and expand public access to historical and cultural values. Additionally, this initiative will support sustainable tourism development in Yen Bai Province.
