Statistics from the General Statistics Office (GSO) showed that with export revenue of US$27.29 billion, the export of phones and components went up by 3.1% compared to the same period in 2018.
However, in July alone, export revenue of this product reached US$3.8 billion, down 1.9% over the same period in 2018.
In the first half of 2019, phones and components also posted the highest export revenue compared to other export products of Vietnam, which recorded US$23.49 billion, accounting for 19.1% of Vietnam’s total export revenue and up 3.9% over the same period last year.
The US was the largest export market of Vietnamese phones and components with export revenue of US$4.1 billion in the first half of 2019, a sharp increase of 81.76% over the corresponding period in 2018.
The Republic of Korea came in second with export revenue of US$2.37 billion and the UAE came in third with export revenue of US$2.25 billion.
Revenue from the export of phones and components to a large number markets went down in the first half of 2019 with 67% of markets seeing decreasing revenue. The largest revenue reductions were reported in Cambodia and Colombia with a decrease of 99.66% and 34.67%,respectively.
