The concert will take place in Ha Noi at 8:00 PM on July 12, 2025, at Lycée Français Alexandre Yersin, No. 44 Gia Thuong Street, Ngoc Thuy Ward, Long Bien District.
The performance will open with the first part of Davidsbündlertänze by Robert Schumann, a suite of romantic, fantastical and deeply emotional dances which symbolise the composer’s passionate love for his fiancée. This piece marks the beginning of an immersive exploration into the connection between dance, dream, and the world of fantasy, while showcasing the virtuosic technique and the evocative beauty of the German Romantic tradition.
The recital continues with Les fées sont d’exquises danseuses (The Fairies Are Exquisite Dancers) by Claude Debussy, a piece featuring delicate grace and subtlety, evocative of the graceful movements of fairies.
The programme also features Prélude No.1 by George Gershwin, imbued with jazzy flair and the unmistakable spirit of New York — both free-spirited and fiery. The Courante in D minor by Henry Purcell, a fast and elegant dance, is emblematic of the English Baroque style, evoking the splendour and gaiety of 18th-century royal court balls.
Next is the alluring Forlane from Le Tombeau de Couperin by French master Maurice Ravel, full of brilliance and French refinement.
A highlight of the evening will be the world premiere of a new work composed especially for David Greilsammer by talented young British composer Georgie Ward.
The concert took the audience back to Maurice Ravel through the majestic "Rigaudon", to immerse themselves in the timeless beauty of Purcell's Hornpipe in D minor — an ancient baroque folk dance.
The recital concludes with the second part of Schumann’s Davidsbündlertänze suite, leaving the audience with unforgettable moments of virtuosity, lyricism, and poetic expression on the piano.
In addition to the solo recital, David Greilsammer will also perform with the Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra in Ha Noi (July 5), Hue (July 7), Da Nang (July 8), Da Lat (July 10), and Ho Chi Minh City (July 11).
