The three outstanding teachers praised by President Truong Tan Sang comprise Nguyen Tra from Phuong Lien ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi; Nguyen Thi Thong from Ngu Loc ward, Hau Loc district, central Thanh Hoa province; and Le Trung Sung, Long Hoa ward, Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city.
Nguyen Tra and Nguyen Thi Thong, both teachers of advanced age, offered free education to disadvantaged children.
Meanwhile, Le Trung Sung provided free swimming courses to thousands of children, helping them improve their survival skills.
In his letter, the President said the work the teachers had done reflects the good virtues of Vietnamese teachers, stemming from thousands of years of tradition and culture.
He also hoped that teachers across the country would continue to provide comprehensive knowledge and necessary life skills to the young people, enabling them to uphold the fine traditions of the previous generations and contribute to national construction and defense.
