Quang Ngai calls for foreign investment at Hanoi conference

Quang Ngai Province and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly held a conference on October 25 in Hanoi to promote its potential and strengths to international partners.

According to Quang Ngai Chairman Nguyen Van Minh, the province boasts a dynamic economy, well-developed transport infrastructure, a long coastline, deepwater ports, sufficient human resources and capable leaders.

He added that Quang Ngai has determined two development focuses, namely expanding the oil refinery and national energy centre at the Dung Quat Economic Zone and the Ly Son sea and island tourism centre.

As of October 2023, the total number of projects in the Dung Quat Economic Zone and other industrial parks in the province was 348, with a total capital of 391 trillion VND (15.9 billion USD), including 60 foreign-invested projects, worth 1.997 billion USD.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang stated that with its great potential and the right orientation, Quang Ngai will capture the attention of foreign investors and soon become a development centre of the central region as well as the country.

At the discussion session, representatives of many foreign business associations presented their investment plans in Quang Ngai and put forward their recommendations to provincial leaders.

According to chief representative of JETRO Hanoi Nakajima Takeo, Japanese enterprises are interested in expanding their investment in Vietnam and many are looking to seize on the opportunity to invest in expressways, airports, seaports and industrial parks in Quang Ngai.

In her concluding remarks, Quang Ngai Party Secretary Bui Thi Quynh Van expressed her confidence that after the conference more cooperation opportunities will be opened up and more resources will be attracted to create new prosperity for Quang Ngai and the business community.
