Quang Ngai holds memorial service for former State President Tran Duc Luong at three locations

According to an announcement from the People’s Committee of Quang Ngai Province, the memorial service for comrade Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member, former President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and former Chairman of the National Defence and Security Council, was organised at three locations in the province.

Specifically, the memorial service is being held from 7:00 on May 24 to 7:00 on May 25, at the following locations: the hall of the T50 Guest House, Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command (No. 142 Le Trung Dinh Street, Quang Ngai City); the Cultural House of Duc Pho Town; and the hall of the People’s Committee of Pho Khanh Commune, Duc Pho Town.

The tribute ceremony will be solemnly held at the hall of the T50 Guest House, Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, at 7:00 on May 25. The burial ceremony will take place at the family cemetery in Dien Truong Hamlet, Pho Khanh Commune, Duc Pho Town, at 15:00 the same day.

To ensure solemnity and consistency, the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee has requested that delegations attending the memorial service in Quang Ngai refrain from bringing wreaths. Instead, they may bring a black fabric ribbon measuring 1.2m x 0.2m, with the words "Respectful condolences" in white and a smaller line below indicating the name of the organisation, agency, or individual. These ribbons will be attached to wreaths provided by the funeral organising committee.

During the two days of the state funeral for comrade Tran Duc Luong (May 24 and 25), all government offices and agencies across the province will fly the national flag at half-mast with a black ribbon. Cultural and artistic events, sports competitions, and public entertainment activities will be suspended during this period.

To coordinate and serve the funeral of comrade Tran Duc Luong in Quang Ngai, the provincial People’s Committee has established a funeral organising committee comprising 22 members, chaired by Nguyen Hoang Giang, Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee.

The committee has also issued a detailed plan that assigns specific responsibilities to relevant departments, sectors, agencies, and localities in the implementation of the funeral arrangements for comrade Tran Duc Luong.
